Several of the Apple fans present at the Apple session have already purchased iPhones, and many of the UNC schools are having issues with the iPhones being incompatible with their current wireless APs on their campuses.
One of the Mac geeks present suggested a good justification for purchasing an iPhone and making it work on their campus: using Jail Break and putting SSH on it and using it to manage servers!
Jail Break is a program developed specifically for the iPhone to help hack the iPhone to install 3rd-Party apps via Safari. Apparently it’s just a website with some code that takes advantage of mobile Safari.
Another audience member asked about using Unix or Linux in a non-virtualized environment. I have tried Ubuntu on Bootcamp, personally, and it runs pretty stable.
