EDIT: If you’re reading this for information about helping me out with Grad School by donating, skip to the separator line about midway down. This first bit is just about my holiday.
Well, Hello there. Fancy seeing you here! Did you have a good holiday? Where you surrounded by feelings of comfort and joy? Awesome. I was surrounded by boredom and awkwardness, but otherwise was pretty contented actually. I’ve mentioned here before my mom is seeing this guy Chris, and he was around some during the week of Christmas.
Mom made all my favorite Christmas sweets that I’m not supposed to have. My favorite was the fudge brownies she made just for me, but for some reason made the ones with nuts and without nuts in the same pan. So, 3/4 ended up with nuts in them. I’m okay with that, it just seemed sort of silly to do it all in the same pan. But she’s my mom, and I love her.
I got the KitchenAid stand mixer I’d asked for – it comes with three attachments by default, which is cool. I need to use it soon, I still haven’t tried it out. My sister got me a Black and Decker tool set (pretty extensive list of tools in it, too!) that included a 14v cordless drill. Relatives got me clothes and a mug and a keychain-sized digital photo album thingy. One grandma got me cash, which I used to buy gas and food later. Chris and his son Will gave me a $30 gift card to Walmart, which I spent on a bottle of Pinot Grigio, two six-packs of Sam Adams (Lager and Winter Ale), Cheerios, milk, brown hair dye, and texturizing mousse wax. I did chip in an extra $10 with that purchase to cover it all. Nathan and I went to Hooters for dinner one night, and then out to see “The Tale of Desperaux” and “Yes Man” – both were enjoyable movies.

Today I registered for my second graduate school Project Management class – Project Planning. My job, as a benefit, pays for my tuition – but not my fees or books. Fees usually add up to around $110 (due January 12th), and then books end up costing something like $45 a piece if I get them on Amazon used. That being said, I’m asking my readership to help me out, if you want. There’s something like 100 unique visitors a day to this blog, so if I can get half of you to donate $5 or more, I’m set for this semester.
Five bucks, that’s it. Most of you probably blow $5 on a combo meal at a fast food joint or on a cup of Starbucks coffee or half a DVD movie every week. I know some of you who read my blog are in a tight spot, too. Don’t feel bad if you just can’t donate.
If you give and you own a blog or a web site or a business, I will plug it here on my blog with as much info about it as you desire. Also, if you do that, I’m pretty sure you can write it off on your taxes as a business expense for advertising – I can write you a receipt and mail or fax it to you if you’d like.
