If you’re overly sensitive to couply-romanticy-stuff then you know, you should ignore this post and move along, nothing to see here.

I’m “going on dates” with this lovely woman. She’s my “girlfriend-equivalent.” One of the reasons why we use the phrases in quotation marks is that she’s going away in the fall, and we don’t want to get too serious and attached and end up hurt when she has to leave.

But honestly, I think that if anyone means anything to you at all, to some degree it doesn’t feel great when you have to part ways for a while.

She’s not going away like I’ll never see her again – but she’ll be three hours away living at her parents’ house and I’ll only be able to visit once in a while. I’m not looking forward to that.

She makes me smile every single day. She doesn’t try to change me or get me to live a different life. She likes me for me, and it’s all pretty comfortable and awesome. I care about her and want her to be safe and happy. It’s too early still to say anything more serious than that. She’s pretty cool. And we watch Jeopardy together, when we can.
