The Agence France-Presse reports that the Academy Awards nominees have been made, and near the top of the list are two dark-themed movies, No Country for Old Men and epic oil-industry thriller There Will Be Blood.
One of my favorite actresses, Cate Blanchett is up for two awards nominations in the categories of Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. I didn’t get to see Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but I did love her in Aviator a while back.
And of course, Bowling for Columbine controversial film-maker Michael Moore is back with a nomination for his documentary on health care in the United States called Sicko.
Most of these movies I haven’t seen or didn’t care to see. I’m not sure what all the big fuss is about, but this at least gives me some ammunition for my Netflix queue. The Oscars will be held February 24th of this year.
