windows7Rumors have been circulating that computer maker HP would be offering customers the ability to downgrade to Windows XP later this year when Windows 7 ships out. Now that rumor has been confirmed with an announcement by software giant Microsoft, confirming that users will not only have rights to downgrade to Windows Vista, but also to Windows XP. The best part: Official Support for the widespread Windows XP operating system ends next week.

Microsoft has specifically declined to let out dates about the downgrade rights, fearing they might let people figure out when they expect 7 to ship to the general masses. Volume license customers can always downgrade to any version of Windows, of course.
