I’m not saying Google Maps isn’t already a pretty nifty application, and it’s not the application that needs improvement. Click2Maps is a cool service that lets you create your own Google Maps with driving directions, points of interest markers, etc. and then customize just about everything’s color and look and feel. Compile your own custom Google Map, then you can share it with friends and family, post it on your web site or blog, or print it on a flyer and hand it out – like maps to the star’s houses.

You can visit Click2Map and customize your own map, then password protect it, import/export it into KML, XML, geoRSS, or other types of files – opening up a whole new world of possibilities with Google Maps. You can also customize your markers, header / footer, directions & address search. There’s not a whole lot about this service that doesn’t allow you to do something custom with your personalized Google Map. Another nifty feature: you can insert an e-mail address or URL into the footer of the map – letting you turn your custom Google Map into a lead generation tool! (Or maybe just link back to your blog or Facebook page, or your Twitter URL). Check out this video on Click2Maps:

Click2Maps is a pretty awesome web app, and I think it’ll save a lot of time for a lot of folks who don’t want to have to go through the trouble of XML coding their own mashed-up version of Google Maps to get what they want out of it. And anything that saves time and frustration is a winner for the Raging Tech! Head directly to Click2Maps signup page to get started.
