Haha. Maybe. At 6:31 (P.M., EST) and 30 seconds tomorrow Friday, UNIX time will read 1234567890 and the apocalypse may very well be upon us. Actually, probably not. We won’t even really have any cool computer glitches to speak of, since Linux has been using 64-bit time for quite some time now, which means the “roll-over” (like what happened at Y2K) won’t be “until sometime around when the sun burns out.”
There’s a lot of hoopla over on Digg (Probably because Kevin Rose was bored and decided to Tweet about it) and the Official 1234567890 Day web site, something to check out if you’re bored. Will any of you celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime historically insignificant day? Do you think anything will break down and cause zombies to appear? Will we be magically teleported into the year 2012, the supposed year of our doom? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
