As a Netflix customer, I often enjoyed being able to sign on to Netflix on my lunch break and watch TV shows from their “Watch Instantly” service. Unfortunately, I had to load it up on my virtual machine that runs XP because due to DRM restrictions, Netflix was unable to offer Mac users the service (even if they were paying for it at the same price, boo!).
Well, Mac users rejoice! Netflix has come to an agreement with Microsoft and other licensing stakeholders to ensure that the Microsoft Silverlight platform provides sufficient DRM restrictions to put the studios and publishers at ease. Hours and hours of streaming video of more movies than I care to shake a stick at are now available online, and Mac users can have the same fun PC Netflix users have had for a while now.
